June 2019

This Action Plan details policy priority areas that the Kenyan government will focus on between 2019 and 2024 in a bid to ensure that all businesses, including state owned enterprises, respect human rights. The National Action Plan incorporates the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and focuses on five thematic issues identified by stakeholders, namely: Land and Natural Resources; labour rights; revenue transparency; environmental protection; and access to remedy. It outlines concrete commitments by the government for addressing adverse business-related human rights impacts under these themes. It does not create new obligations but restates those already recognised under the Constitution.
