Description

The IRMA Standard is targeted at industrial-scale mines. The IRMA Certification goal is to establish a multi-stakeholder and independently verified responsible mining assurance system that improves social and environmental performance.

IRMA is a multi-commodity assurance programme for responsible mining that embraces a multi-stakeholder approach for developing credible standards as well as a commitment to independent verification. There are five key sectors with a stake in the environmental and social performance of mining: mining companies; jewellery, electronics and other downstream users of mining products; environmental and human rights non-profits; organizations representing affected communities; and labour.
