Description | The Ethical Procurement of Apparel Policy requires that suppliers self-certify that they and their direct Canadian and foreign suppliers comply with a set of eight fundamental human and labour rights. Among these rights are freedom from child labour, forced labour, discrimination and abuse, as well as access to fair wages and safe working conditions. |

Description | Canada’s National Strategy to Combat Human Trafficking (National Strategy) is a whole-of-government approach that brings together federal initiatives under one strategic framework that aligns with the internationally recognized pillars of prevention, protection, prosecution and partnerships. It also introduces a new focus area, “empowerment”, to enhance support and services to victims and survivors of human trafficking. The National Strategy demonstrates Canada’s commitment to incorporating more victim-centred, trauma-informed and culturally-relevant approaches to policies, programs and training to better counter this crime. |
